If there’s one thing I have learned over the last 11 years of teaching, it’s that women, esp. those “of a certain age” come to me SO often with doubts. They see a hoop and think (or often SAY) “I can’t do that!” or “I’ve never been able to keep one up!” My only response is “YES…you CAN do this – Hooping Over 50 is SO possible!”

Now, don’t get me wrong, not ALL women say or think in such a less-than-confident way. There are many who say “I used to LOVE hula hooping as a kid!” and to that I say “THEN why not do it now? You CAN do this…AGAIN!” It’s like they just need a little push or some permission to “go there.” Sometimes it’s just that they have only tried a toy hoop since they’ve been older…and you KNOW how I feel about that…I explain in other posts – HERE in an Interview, HERE where I talk about Hoop Size and even HERE with some info about Weighted Hoops – I go over hoops, sizes and my WHY things are so disconnected out there in the fitness & wellness community when it comes to hooping.

Even as kids, those same women who say they’ve NEVER been able to keep a hoop going were simply not using the right size hoop way back in the day! It’s TRUE! Kids need bigger hoops sometime, too. I have taught many daughters and granddaughters of clients…they could not use the toy or school PE hoops, but they get in one of my larger, taped hoops and BINGO!

A little instruction in some basic principles and a good size hoop…THAT’S ALL you need. I make you the right hoop. I teach you the right way, step by step. I want you to be clear on that. Hooping with me is all about succeeding with a hoop…for the VERY first time or perhaps for the first time in a very, very long time!

If you have to build up your stamina to keep it spinning on your waist, then so be it. THAT IS SO COMMON! You will practice. You will get stronger. I also teach you options to keep moving with the hoop in your hand…SIMPLE, basic moves…not fancy tricks…Warm Up & Stretch, too.
