Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Who can train with aRoundJoy?

aRoundJoy Hoop Training is especially for women in mid-life, although some men have definitely come to classes & training sessions with their wives/girlfriends/daughters in the past! Please note that older girls & boys (age 13 -17) may attend, but they must take session with an accompanying parent/guardian. Each individual participant (and guardian, if needed) must register & pre-pay for session. Any new participant must also complete and sign a Liability Waiver prior to training. It saves time to print, complete & bring it with you. Copies of this form are also available to fill out & sign when you arrive to your session.

Does aRoundJoy offer hoop classes?

Yes, but not the traditional workout “classes” like you’d take at a gym. aRoundJoy offers some indoor, but mostly outdoor private training sessions in-person; 1-2 people can train together (priced individually).  Curriculum, content and concepts can vary based on client needs, goals and abilities, with lots of individual attention and instruction for any skill level. Sessions can be customized so you are always successful and you will learn how to use a hoop for maximum benefit and results. Read more about the benefits of my private, smaller classes and trainings HERE. Private Hoop Training sessions are available by appointment for more specific help and mentoring/coaching, as well as very basic Beginner Hoop Classes. Find out about those classes HERE.

Does aRoundJoy offer VIDEOS?

YES! aRoundJoy BASICS Hoop Training for Women COURSE is ON DEMAND, 24/7 “members only” virtual hoop training, an organized and comprehensive HOOP-AT-HOME resource of videos & handouts. It’s available for purchase alone OR it comes FREE with any BEGINNER Hoop BUNDLE!!

Where are hoop classes & private trainings held?

Sessions are held *outside, with some inside coaching, as needed, around my residential area (at home, in the backyard, at a park or school close by) located in Arlington, TX  – exact address/map will be sent to all registered & paid participants prior to session.

*If weather forecast is too extreme or unsafe, your class/session may be cancelled, but it will always be rescheduled. Typically the local 10 day weather forecast is the very best guide to consider before booking.

What should I bring?

Please bring WATER, a sweat towel & a positive attitude to your hoop session!

What should I wear?

Tennis shoes/sneakers & comfortable exercise apparel MUST be worn. COTTON fabrics are more hoop-friendly than nylon, so please try to wear those natural fabrics. Wear layers or go for lighter fabrics, depending on the season, so you can adjust for comfort according to the weather. Gloves (vinyl/leather w/ “grip”) are a good idea for beginners, also. They help to protect the back of the hand while practicing off body hoop moves, allow for better grasp of the hoop and during winter, they help keep hands warm while outside. Look for a weight lifting type of glove, with the fingers cut off. These gloves are not required, but can be very beneficial for comfort and success.

Can I bring a visitor or my young child to a training session?

No. Hoop Training sessions are closed to outside visitors and babysitting is not available. If someone attends training with you then they will need to purchase a session, as well.

What if I don't own a hoop yet?

No worries. Hoops are supplied for your very first session, to allow for sizing & training success. You’ll need to purchase a hoop after the session so you can practice & hoop daily at home! If you already have an adult size hoop, please bring it with you, as well. It might be a very eye-opening experience! Remember…we don’t use heavy “weighted” fitness hoops, nor do we use child size “toy” hoops. Neither of these types are not appropriate for learning basic hoopdance moves with aRoundJoy; smaller, durable hoops will be used for some training off-body moves during sessions, when applicable, and they are also available for purchase.

What is a Practice Session?

This is an open PLAYTIME for hoop practice with other aRoundJoy clients – all with various levels of expertise, from new beginners to veterans, are invited to come together for play, sharing, fellowship and FUN! These take place outside in a local neighborhood spot or sometimes we head to a local park – so, weather permitting, these events are held seasonally as special bonus sessions allowing for extra group interaction.

More info will be available as each event is scheduled during the year; clients get invited via email and/or in my aRoundJoy INNER CIRCLE membership group notifications. If there’s ever an open, public “meet-n-greet” event, that would be published on the aRoundJoy Facebook EVENTS page and shared via aRoundJoy social media (especially FacebookInstagram). Be sure to “like” & “follow” me so you won’t miss any upcoming opportunities!
