WHAT? WAIT! Life AFTER The HoopShack? Isn’t this aRoundJoy AT The HoopShack?

Well, yes…and no…and it will always be. Let me explain…

For almost 10 years, I have taught AT a space, which I called “The HoopShack.” First it was a warehouse, then an office suite and finally, it was at our sweet, little guest house/Airbnb near our home. The sudden, quick sale of that house, however, put us into a swift mode of “pack-it-up and get out.” We didn’t have time to make too many plans…we just know the timing was right to sell. With Airbnb-type short-term rentals being banned almost entirely in Arlington, Texas recently, we felt it was simply the right thing to do. Sad, but true.

Amazingly, the house sold in a mere 3 days and we closed within a month after that! Whew! It wasn’t until we had finished moving out that I suddenly realized “Wow, I’ve had The HoopShack since 2009…and now I DON’T! That kinda made me a little sad…not for very long, but it has been bittersweet.

I’d be lying if I said it was easy. It was very hard to make decisions about what to keep and what to let go of, too…but after the last few weeks, I have adjusted, gotten all settled in and feel like I finally have a touch of The HoopShack vibe now at home…and I’m good to go! Notice in the photo above…that “flower” print (which inspired my colorful theme since originally) & a peace sign now hang in my den…just those little touches mean the world to me. Having familiar pieces nearby that have special meaning help give me energy and inspire my creativity, too!

This has all been a good thing, really…I can concentrate my focus on just ONE place. I can still consult with and teach clients just fine here at home, as needed. I’ve been busy lately working on my new hoop course, and making lots of hoops for new clients, as well. I feel as if I’m back in the flow of things after a quick house sale and hectic, fast-paced move!

It took me a couple of weeks to get all settled in at home…I now have my plan, my idea, of how things will roll…I’ve been talking about it on my Facebook page, so I’ll let you see and hear what’s been up there…I talk about how and where things are going…it’s a new season of aRoundJoy…and that’s OK.

THESE things are for sure, though – I’m still teaching, both online and in-person (in my backyard, on my patio or other nearby outdoor location)…and I’m still making custom hoops and carrying on with the spirit of “The Shack” wherever & whenever I teach…it IS as much part of aRoundJoy, as aRoundJoy is a part of me. THAT will never change! PROMISE!
