At almost 60, I’m definitely in season of change lately…in the way I approach my life, as well as my hooping…and ultimately, the way I approach aRoundJoy – my business that I started 10 years ago.

If there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that the hoop is such a wonderful teacher for how to deal with life in general…slow down, be persistent, have patience, let go, FEEL your way through…accept what is, trust the process, keep trying and never give up…and those are just a few ways the hoop can helps you other than the OBVIOUS fun exercise stuff!

So, it’s no surprise that after 12 years total of hooping, as I head into my 6th decade, that I’m taking time to really apply what I’ve learned from the hooping. Some days it’s easy to accept getting older, but other days, not so much. I’m not the same, energy level-wise, as when I first started hooping, obviously! I think you know can relate, but if anyone out there has the same energy level they did 12 years ago, speak up and PLEASE let me know YOU manage that…LoL!

Actually, for the first time EVER in all these years, I have been feeling a little fear even creep into my hoop practice…like wondering “what’s next” for how I incorporate the hoop and even aRoundJoy into this new phase of my life, as a 60 year old woman. I spoke about all this in a recent Facebook “live”…

I hope you can understand where I am coming from…I’m feeling a shift, a pivot, into a more casual stroll through things, less rushing and more enjoyment for the simplicity where my husband and I are right now. He’s feeling it, too, as he looks for the “next chapter” in his career…or not. No decision is quite set in stone…we’re evolving and going with the flow. We’ve both just let go of expectations and are living each day with intention to accomplish…something. Whether it’s projects at home or simply enjoying a day together doing something new…we are just rolling with whatever, as he applies for new jobs that appeal to what he wants to be doing in his work life. No rush. No stress. Accepting God’s plan for us, knowing that He’s in control.

Thankfully, I have a huge blessings right here with me on this journey…first and foremost, as I said, my supportive husband & family, plus understanding friends, social media followers, too…and I’m super grateful for the wonderful, insightful clients in my Inner Circle online coaching group. Connecting with them virtually, thru posts, videos and messages, is SUCH a help…I’m able to clear my head, gain more clarity and encouragement anytime we have discussions (like we have been about this very topic recently)…I know they join my group to be mentored by ME, but I have been so inspired and motivated to keep on going thanks to these ladies…I simply thank God for all these blessings.

I hope some of you out there can relate to all this. If you can’t, then chances are you’re not at this age yet…and if you can, that means you’re there, too, or you were. We ALL go through seasons in life – our carefree teen years…then our struggling, finding-ourself 20’s, the family-raising 30’s & 40’s, empty-nester 50’s and then, the NEXT chapter & retirement years of our 60’s and hopefully, 70’s.

As I said in the video, I’m not going anywhere. I’ll still have this website, and I’ll be writing more on the blog. I’ll still keep hooping, teaching, mentoring, making hoops and helping women in midlife, find joy through moving with a hoop. I’ll just be doing all this in a way that fits my lifestyle at 60. The hoop has taught me THAT, too – just do what fits and FEELS GOOD!

Yep…that’s EXACTLY what hooping does. No matter what season you are in, it just fits! It can be high cardio, yet very gentle on the joints. As much as it does teach me to “let go” of things, it’s the one thing I’ll never completely let go of.

So, how are you handling this transition into your 60’s? Have you already made it through? If so, what wisdom can you pass along? Are you fearful or excited? Drop me a comment here below, over on Facebook or on Instagram…I’d love to hear from you!
