Back in 2010, I started a tradition: gathering together a group of my clients and girlfriends to “HoopWalk” in the 4th of July Arlington Independence Day Parade. We ended up doing it every year since then…well, except the last couple of years. Actually, 2018 year was out final parade appearance. So, I bid farewell to the 4th of July Parade with this little “digital scrapbook” from my Facebook page videos…
I may not have been in the 4th of July parade recently, but after looking thru 9 years of patriotic fun, I feel like I was there all over again! The photos in this montage are just a tiny drop of all the photos from my various photo albums through the years! Maybe I’ll do another post next year and show totally different shots…there are just SO MANY great photos! Each one I am super grateful for…as memories fade, the pictures help me remember IT ALL and smile!
Funny what happens to our energy level as we get older, isn’t it? I think it’s best, now more than ever, to listen to my body…listen to heart, also. I always tell clients to do it…now, I’m taking my own advice! I know I’m not as “peppy” as I used to be AND that’s OK! I’m giving myself a lot of grace…an that’s not a bad thing at all.
As I look back through the pictures, I can truthfully say I had a TON more energy back when I was 50 than I do now at 60 (60 &1/2, but who’s counting?)…SO thankful we did all this parade stuff while we were a little younger and had the stamina to get out in the summer heat and walk with our hoops 2 miles! LoL!
Speaking of walking with our hoops…doing this parade was where “HoopWalk” was born! It’s a great way to get some upper body benefits and some cardio…and I still do it almost daily in my neighborhood and even just my backyard. I encourage my clients to do it, as well. I noticed how great I felt after the parade, from walking & spinning my hoop all around my body…and for all these years it’s been a fundamental part of my own hoop practice and what I teach women to do. Walking without a hoop is…well…BORING!!
In closing, I just want to thank ALL of you who participated over those memorable 9 years. To each and every one of my parade peeps…I love all y’all so much…thanks for the memories! SO very thankful we all found each other while we were a little younger and had the stamina to get out in the summer heat and walk with our hoops 2 miles! LoL!
To the rest of you…IF you are NEW here and are just finding me, just know that even though I have slowed down my pace a bit, I still plan on many more years of hooping fun, both in teaching you AND making quality hoops…I’m not going ANYWHERE!!
It’s just a different season, a new time for me to hang up my parade hoops…because these days, I’m saving my precious energy for what matters most to me – my personal time, spent with my husband and family, and getting plenty of rest so I can serve YOU, my clients, in the very best way possible! Are you next?
