Over the last 17 years, Geri McNiece has built a true community within her business, aRoundJoy, located in Arlington, Texas. Since 2009, she has trained well over 1000 hoop clients, both in-person and online. Geri truly believes that anyone, of any age can find joy within a hoop. She currently works with women in midlife, helping them find a true fountain of youth AND a healthier life through hooping!
During her years in business, Geri has been very involved in her local community, successfully creating and teaching a breakthrough after-school program for girls, encouraging confidence and self-esteem. She also helped victims of domestic violence in the same way at a local women’s shelter. She participated in several corporate wellness initiatives, plus worked with activity centers, local school districts, and charitable organizations–all with hoop in hand.
Today, at 66, Geri is mostly retired, but happily volunteering her time and talents in-person at ACTIV Arlington – teaching Hoop Training classes, on the Social side of the facility, to her fellow members there. She gradually slowed down after running her business almost entirely online since 2020. Three years before that, she was diagnosed with Vestibular Migraine and PPPD (after struggling for 23 years with dizziness & vertigo), and learned from her doctors/therapists just how much hooping was therapeutic for her conditions over the last 17 years of her hoop business.
Because of this, she will always have a passion for helping other women in midlife & beyond, like herself – from all over the U.S. and now, primarily to local community members – to add this joyful, gentle, relaxing movement into their lives…hooping is beneficial both physically and mentally.
She continues to make custom hoops for clients, as well as train and mentor local women, who are becoming new friends… Geri is thoroughly enjoys teaching in-person weekly classes at ACTIV, which include her exclusive online instruction – she gives online access to her videos, tips and tools so that everyone in class can learn and practice at home, too!
With a background in dance, baton twirling and musical theatre spanning over 50 years, Geri authentically engages in her passion and purpose, while inspiring and educating women about hooping on her various @aroundjoy social media platforms. You can find gold nuggets of past and current content, on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, sharing her own brand of hoop movement to the “well-seasoned woman!” Geri is committed to spreading the joy of hooping the rest of her life. #aroundjoy
